Universal Genève Tri-Compax Eric Clapton "Mint Chocolate Chip"
Straight Facts
Universal Genève is one of the most notable watch manufacturers of all time and many think this piece, the “Eric Clapton” Tri-Compax is some of their best work. Named after the famed musician and watch collector who popularized the watch and wore it often. The name Tri-Compax refers to the three complications that Universal Genève managed to integrate into a 36mm case with lyre-form lugs. Of course, like with any of their Compax watches, you get a chronograph, a triple-date calendar, and a moon-phase. This, however, is not any ordinary Tri-Compax; it is one of the most interesting and rare pieces I have ever seen. Over time some of the luminous material degraded so heavily that it patinated the dial into the most incredible mint color. Not only does this color give the watch a whole new look, but it is something that is truly unique and natural. The watch is also in incredible condition with a minty bezel, razor sharp case (with both the serial and reference number crisply present) and a fully overhauled caliber. This is truly one of the most special pieces I have ever seen and I couldn’t be happier to offer it in the Watch Shop!
*Some marks or spots on the dial are reflections or dust on the crystal and are due to high intensity strobe lighting used while photographing. They are not actually on the watch or visible in natural lighting.
