Rolex Oyster Perpetual Ref. 6567 Rose Gold - Satin Silver 'Serpico Y Laino' Dial

Sale price$14,950.00 USD

If you boil Rolex down to its purest form, what do you get?

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual. This is truly the genesis for the entire Rolex brand. The very first Rolex models were called ‘Oysters’ which was owed to their innovative three part case that all screwed into each-other. This watch represents an evolution of that, when these were still semi-bubble back watches.

The piece that we have here, simply know as an Oyster Perpetual, is a descendant of those early watches, though is probably not what first comes to mind when your hear Oyster Perpetual...

Dating to circa 1959, this is a very special Reference 6567 constructed out of solid 18k rose gold. Coming in at 34mm in diameter, it comes to us in excellent overall condition given it's age, having seen a light previous polishing, while retaining correct case proportions and symmetrical lugs. It shows normal signs of wear and some sleeve polish throughout with no significant damage to speak of. The bracelet is a correct and matching rose gold 'rivet' Oyster with an adjustable 'blade'-style clasp and it matches the condition of the case perfectly. It even retains it's rose gold crown and correct finely-'fluted' rose gold bezel.

The dial, however, is where this piece is further elevated.... It's silver surface is satin finished and shows light discoloration throughout from age — visible really only under inspection with a loupe — and with largely intact luminous plots. It has applied rose gold faceted-'arrowhead' indices and a 'dauphine' handset to compliment them.

As if all of these beautiful period details weren't enough, this piece also bears an additional signature on the top half that reads "Serpico Y Laino." This retailer in Caracas, Venezuela also engraved the casebacks of watches that were retailed at this location, which thankfully, this piece also retains.

This then, is a brilliant example of Rolex displaying a more artistic side, all while very much being a Rolex at heart, with that water-resistant Oyster case and a robust automatic-winding movement within. Hard to beat.
