Patek Philippe Gondolo Ref. 5024/1J - White 'Breguet' Dial

Sale price$23,450.00 USD

As far as brand identity goes, Patek Philippe, unlike many brands, is seemingly free of being associated with any one model in particular, and instead enjoys a reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and a long-standing pedigree as a top Swiss manufacturer.

Of course, there are models and model families that are nothing short of icons (e.g., Nautilus, Calatrava, Grand Complications, etc.) but if you dig deep enough there are hidden gems that do not even fall into any of these families.

Take the Gondolo line, for example. Largely overlooked by the broader watch community, this family of watches represents decades of elegant, design-forward pieces dating back nearly 100-years.

The piece that we have here is a Reference 5024/1J from circa the 1990s. The case measures a substantial 30mm x 38mm and is crafted out of solid yellow gold with a matching five-link yellow gold bracelet. It has a signed, recessed crown at 3 o'clock, a sapphire crystal, and a curved caseback — allowing for an extremely comfortable wearing experience despite its mass. The case is reminiscent of 'Art Deco' pieces from the first half of the twentieth century, namely 'skyscraper' watches, with the stepped, rectangular design. Inside, the dial features high-contrast, black painted 'Breguet' indices on a stark white surface with a 'railroad' minute track, a subsidiary seconds register, and a matching black-painted 'feuille' handset. It is powered by Patek's proven Cal. 215 manual-winding movement.

If you are looking for an alternative to something like a Santos, or maybe a Calatrava or complications aren't for you, then have a close look at this piece!

From Rolex & Patek Philippe, to Cartier & Audemars Piguet. As collectors first, we love the small details that separate the Submariner from Daytona and Calatrava from Royal Oak. This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
