Patek Philippe Ellipse 'TV' Ref. 3604-1J - Sunburst Blue 'Sigma' Dial

Sale price$27,950.00 USD

As far as brand identity goes, Patek Philippe, unlike many brands, is seemingly free of being associated with any one model in particular, and instead enjoys a reputation for quality, craftsmanship, and a long-standing pedigree as a top Swiss manufacturer.

Of course, there are models and model families that are nothing short of icons (e.g., Nautilus, Calatrava, Grand Complications, etc.) but if you dig deep enough there are hidden gems that do not even fall into any of these families.

The Ellipse family of watches, for example, was all but forgotten — or just overlooked — for decades until the last 4-5 years. When they were sold new, these were regarded as extremely high-end and opulent timepieces and have remained relative bargains next to, lets say, their more sport-oriented steel siblings.

The piece that we have here is amongst the most sought-after Ellipse models, with a large 36mm x 36mm solid yellow gold 'TV' case, an integrated 'woven' yellow gold bracelet, and a sunburst blue dial within. It remains in strong overall condition, with visible hallmarks, a correct signed crown, and shows normal signs of wear from age. The dial inside is almost entirely devoid of the usual wear or degradation found on colored dials from this era and presents beautifully. It features applied 'pencil' indices, a framed date aperture, and a matching 'dauphine' handset.

No doubt, however, the highlight of this piece is that stunning 'woven' bracelet constructed out of solid yellow gold. It shows matching normal wear to that of the case and utilized a familiar signed locking clasp commonly found during this era.

Calatrava or complications aren't for you? Look no further.

From Rolex & Patek Philippe, to Cartier & Audemars Piguet. As collectors first, we love the small details that separate the Submariner from Daytona and Calatrava from Royal Oak. This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
