Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref. 3445 -White Gold w/ 'Gübelin' Dial Unpolished

Sale price$28,950.00 USD

The Patek Philippe Calatrava. Arguably the brands most iconic model line, and purest expression of the brand. Their raison d'etre if you will.

The line has been a hit since its debut in 1932. So much so, that the name "Calatrava" itself has become something of a byword within the watch industry for traditionally styled, no-frills dress watches that simply tell the time. Over the course of its nearly 100-years of production, there have been seemingly countless iterations within the line, with variations in the metal they are made in, with their size, dial configurations, and eventually, complications.

The Calatrava that we have here, a Reference 3445, is gorgeous white gold piece dating to circa 1967. Considered a large piece in its day, it features an almost perfectly sized 36mm case with straight, beveled lugs. It comes to us in outstanding unpolished condition, with clear and defined factory finishing visible throughout and only light signs of wear from age. The silver dial is beautifully preserved, with a consistent and vibrant sunburst finishing and crisp silver color throughout. The correct 'pencil' handset is in fantastic condition and compliments the applied indices and framed date window beautifully. Inside, Patek's Calibre 27-460M automatic-winding movement beats away within.

Last but not least, this piece is further elevated by two details that contribute to a rare example indeed. The dial bears an additional "Gübelin" retailer signature on the dial within the subsidiary seconds register, and it comes fitted to a stunning, matching white gold 'woven' bracelet with a signed adjustable blade clasp produced by Gay Freres — the first we have seen like this.

There are watches, and then there are watches! This is one of the latter.

From Rolex & Patek Philippe, to Cartier & Audemars Piguet. As collectors first, we love the small details that separate the Submariner from Daytona and Calatrava from Royal Oak. This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
