Omega Speedmaster Ref. 105.003-63 - Blue Tropical
Omega is one of the great horological brands of the last hundred years and the Speedmaster is without a doubt they’re most popular and significant model they ever produced throughout their illustrious history. Not just because of its remarkable trip to the moon and space, but because of its outstanding racing history and impeccable design. This reference, the 105.003, nicknamed the “Ed White,” produced from 1963-1969 is without a doubt one of the most instantly recognizable and influential models of the 20th century. Its namesake was a great man, who is better known for his endeavors into space with NASA and its Gemini IV project. In addition to being a highly qualified astronaut, Ed White was the first human being to ever perform a spacewalk (coincidently while wearing this same model!). The reference 105.003 is known for its distinct baton hands, straight lug case, and beautiful stepped dial. This particular piece is in well preserved and honest shape. Its case is sharp, and retains all of its factory proportions. Its matte step dial, has remained in great condition and even gone a little tropical with all original hands and lume plots. Although the star of the show is the insane Dot over 90 bezel. It is a factory metallic blue, which makes this one of the most special Ed Whites I have ever seen. Not to mention that any Ed Whites from 1963 are extremely rare with only a very small amount of pieces being produced in the first year. This is truly a special piece and I couldn’t be happier to offer it in the Watch Shop!
*Some marks or spots on the dial are reflections or dust on the crystal and are due to high intensity strobe lighting used while photographing. They are not actually on the watch or visible in natural lighting.
