Vacheron Constantin Overseas Ref. 42050 - Salmon Dial

Sale price$13,850.00 USD

Straight Facts

The Holy Trinity.

Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and Vacheron Constantin - together considered the most coveted and respected of all Swiss watch brands, and in the 1970s they released their first forays into steel sports watches. Patek has the Nautilus, AP had the Royal Oak, and Vacheron had the ‘222’.

While the ‘222’ got a successor, it took until 1996 to come onto the scene, and was called the Overseas. Of course today everyone knows the Vacheron Overseas and its iconic interpretation of the VC Maltese Cross integrated into its bezel and case back. Originally released in 5 different dial variations, the present example being the highly attractive and sought after ‘Salmon’ dial. The crisp salmon color is punctuated by well preserved triangular lume plots at the end of each applied hour indices, mated to one of the most technical watch cases in the game. The level of polishing, brushing, and case construction is simply unparalleled by any other brand.

While prices for early Nautilus’s and Royal Oak’s have skyrocketed, the Overseas has remained a true connoisseurs choice and flown under the radar - until now. Prices and demand have been ticking up no doubt helped along by how scarce a modern Overseas is in the market. At the end of the day, Vacheron still makes very few watches every year and they are all still handmade from start to finish - mostly in house at the manufacture. In addition to being the rarest of the Holy Trinity, Vacheron is also the oldest continuously operating watch manufacturer in the world. Feel free to drop that fact when you see your hype chasing Nautilus friend next.

*Some marks or spots on the dial are reflections or dust on the crystal and are due to high intensity strobe lighting used while photographing. They are not actually on the watch or visible in natural lighting.
