Universal Geneve Polerouter Date - Rose Gold

SOLD

Straight Facts

Gerald Genta. Universal Geneve. Micro-Rotor.

That’s a lot of buzz words - but all of them accurately describe the incredible and unusual Universal Geneve Polerouter. The initial claim to fame - beyond being a gorgeous watch - is that the Polerouter was designed by a 23 year old Gerald Genta for UG on behalf of the Scandinavian Airlines who was looking to celebrate their new Polar route. The incredibly elegant Polerouter design was a hit commercially, and spawned several variants beyond the initial steel model with the iconic tuxedo dial. In fact - the name Polerouter itself was designed as an hommage the Polar route taken by the SAS.

The Polerouter utilizes a Micro-Rotor movement of UG’s own design which is beautifully finished despite being covered behind a solid caseback. Measuring an era appropriate 36mm, this is not a small watch. The preset example is cased entirely in rose gold, which makes it exceedingly rare as most were done in stainless steel. When cased in gold, the inner tuxedo dial also gets done in rose gold and the dial color changes to an extremely elegant cream color.

Hard to believe that such a ‘standard’ looking watch boasts a highly decorated in-house micro-rotor movement from one of the greatest names in watch history (and designed by its first star designer!) - but indeed it does, and now is your opportunity to make this piece of a history a piece in your collection.

*Some marks or spots on the dial are reflections or dust on the crystal and are due to high intensity strobe lighting used while photographing. They are not actually on the watch or visible in natural lighting.

This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
