Rolex Yacht-Master Ref. 16628 - Onyx & Tritium Mk. 1 Dial

SOLD

Straight Facts

While it shares obvious DNA with its much older brother, the Submariner, the Yacht-Master was only created by Rolex in the 1990s. Think of it as their take on the updated Submariner for a new generation.

While its been around for almost 30 years, the Yacht-Master has just begun to be appreciated by collectors and consumers - and this first generation model is among those to be hotly sought after. Look at that crisp white dial, the red Yacht-Master printing, the Onyx filled lume plots … the tritium triangles! This is as close to a maximalist Rolex as you can get, all with a solid gold bezel that features in deep relief the diving graduations. I am almost certain that nobody went diving with one of these!

That being said - you could go diving with it! Why? Because its a Rolex - and every Rolex is built to the highest standards of manufacturing. The first generation of Yacht-Master was only available in this solid gold configuration, but these are incredibly hard to find and sure to continue their meteoric rise and appreciation over time, so as they would have said in the dot-com era of the 90s: ‘Here’s your chance to get in on the ground floor!”.

*Some marks or spots on the dial are reflections or dust on the crystal and are due to high intensity strobe lighting used while photographing. They are not actually on the watch or visible in natural lighting.

From Rolex & Patek Philippe, to Cartier & Audemars Piguet. As collectors first, we love the small details that separate the Submariner from Daytona and Calatrava from Royal Oak. This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
