Rolex Oyster Speedking Ref. 6430 - 'Tropical' Gilt Dial Unpolished

Sale price$4,950.00 USD

Believe it or not, there are still some great, lesser-known finds in the world of vintage Rolex.

The Oyster Speedking, for example, is a descendant of early Oyster models and was introduced in the early 1940s. Like all Oyster models, the Speedking utilizes a water-resistant Oyster case, a manual-winding movement, and thats it. A functional, sturdy, and dependable timekeeping device.

Dating to circa 1966, this Reference 6430 features a 30mm Oyster case with a smooth steel bezel and is offered in excellent, unpolished condition. The dial within this piece is the real highlight here. The once glossy black 'gilt' surface had aged over the years to an absolutely stunning, rich 'tropical' brown color throughout. It also has applied indices with Tritium plots on the outside, all of which remain fully-intact and evenly patinated and are complimented by a matching 'dagger' handset.

This piece presents great value next to its 'tropicalized' siblings from the Professional line, while simultaneously representing the essence of Rolex.

And don't let that 30mm case diameter fool you... thanks to that flat caseback, this piece has a way of feeling larger than its dimensions would indicate on the wrist, especially with the pop of that striking dial.
