Have a great day!
The Rolex GMT-Master is one of the most historic and iconic watches the brand ever produced. Although there is a long lineage of this model, the first pieces were commissioned by Pan American World Airways in the early 50’s for their fleet of pilots who needed access to different time zones. These first examples featured the coveted bakelite bezels and gorgeous gilt dials. Because of their relative fragility and low production numbers, there are extremely few Ref. 6542’s that survived to this day in not just intact, but exceptional condition, with this happening to be one of the very few. The case appears unpolished with sharp beveling and wide chamfers, the dial, while not quite perfect retains its glossiness and features gorgeous and original custard lume. But the real star of the show is the bezel, which is deep ands rich in color and has no cracks or major imperfections. Not to mention it comes on its original early rivet bracelet dated to the first quarter of 1958, which is a rare treat in itself. This is a true specimen and I coudln’t be happier to offer it in the Watch Shop!
*Some marks or spots on the dial are reflections or dust on the crystal and are due to high intensity strobe lighting used while photographing. They are not actually on the watch or visible in natural lighting.
