Rolex Daytona Ref. 6262 - Reverse Panda

SOLD

Straight Facts

The Rolex Daytona has long been one of the most desirable chronographs in production, which is funny for a model that was initially off to a slow sales start! In fact - it was almost known as the Rolex ‘LeMans’ Chronograph! Early Daytona’s can be a lot of fun to collect because of not just how iconic they are - but also because of how many changes to reference number and dial configurations there are! The one thing they had in common was their manually wound movements. Every Daytona variant was based on the iconic Valjoux 72 chronograph.

The present example is a reference 6262 in ‘Reverse Panda’ Configuration. It’s distinguished by its black & white dial, steel bezel, and small pump pushers with no crown guards. Overall, a very clean and sleek aesthetic for a chronograph - and certainly easier to use without screw-down pushers! Besides being attractive, this is a well preserved example that - though it has seen use of the years - was not abused in any way. This Daytona is an ‘honest’ watch with its untouched dial showing slight signs of wear on two lume plots and an excellent case that likely was polished once or twice in the course of its life. The dial also has no signs of the common edge wear and chipping than can plague these models. Still paired with its date matching period Rolex Riveted Oyster - this is an excellent Daytona ready for everyday wear for the next 60 years.

*Some marks or spots on the dial are reflections or dust on the crystal and are due to high intensity strobe lighting used while photographing. They are not actually on the watch or visible in natural lighting.

From Rolex & Patek Philippe, to Cartier & Audemars Piguet. As collectors first, we love the small details that separate the Submariner from Daytona and Calatrava from Royal Oak. This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
