Movado Calendar 'Ladies' Ref. 13025 - 'Brushed' Silver Dial Unpolished

Sale price$2,650.00 USD

While it may be hard to imagine based upon their product line today, Movado Factories (yes, that was the full name) once made watches that were beautifully designed, exceptionally-well made, and respected on a level that matched the very best manufacturers.

Some of their more sought-after models include the M90 and M95 chronographs of the 1940s - 1970s, the Sub-Sea range, and both time-only and complicated pieces that utilized case designs shared with brands like Patek Philippe, Mido, and DOXA.

Those are all great models. We love them, and even collect them, but it allows for lesser-known pieces to slide through the cracks for most collectors...

Take the watch that we have here for example: a ladies 'calendar' from the 1940s.

It features a square 13mm x 13mm stainless steel case and remains in simply exceptional — very gently worn condition. The case utilizes a pair of micro-pushers on the left case profile for setting the day and date, as well as a crown at 3 o'clock for winding and setting the time. The dial has a lovely 'brushed' silver base with printed black 'exploding' indices on the outer edge, lovely silver 'foil' indices in the inside, and a a blue date track between the two. Time is read via a blued-steel 'dauphine' handset with a red 'pointer-date' hand. Last but not least, it is powered by one of Movado's own manual-winding movements.

In our opinion, and we know there are a handful of other dealers and enthusiasts out there that share this viewpoint, there are not many brands that get design this right. Simple as that.

From Rolex & Patek Philippe, to Cartier & Audemars Piguet. As collectors first, we love the small details that separate the Submariner from Daytona and Calatrava from Royal Oak. This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
