Longines '30CH' Chronograph - Multi-Color Dial

Sale price$4,250.00 USD

Longines is one of the most well respected manufacturers of the 20th century and this is due, in large part, to their incredible chronographs calibers. In 1936, Longines introduced the 13ZN, which is probably one of the the most iconic chronograph movements produced. The success of the 13ZN allowed further creations such as the 30CH and the 530 calibers, which are also highly regarded chronograph movements. Longines was renowned not only for being the first to present a flyback chronograph in a wristwatch, but also for how clean and instantaneous the chronograph action and reset was.

The current example is a slightly more sophisticated and dressy version of the chronograph than its “tool watch”counterpart. The silvered dial featured multi-colored scales for ease of use, and has gained a gentle patina. The case is lovingly preserved, though does show signs of past polishing consistent with a watch from this era. The lume has aged evenly throughout, but there is slight chipping of the hands - more signs of a life well lived from what would have been a hugely expensive watch in its time. Truly a wonderful and attractive vintage chronograph from one of the all time great watchmakers, and a coveted calibre and complication!
