Breguet Classique - Gold 'Guilloché' Dial Unpolished
Parisian manufacturer Breguet, named after its founder, Abraham-Louis Breguet, was founded in 1775 and is one of the most stored and historically significant manufacturers in the world of horology. With a number of firsts, including *ahem* what many consider to be the first known wristwatch, Breguet is primarily known today for its stunning silver 'guilloche' dials, innovations in complications, and outstanding build quality.
The 33mm dress watch that we have here is a very early example of the 'Classique' line, dating to circa the late 1970s - early 1980s. It features a very Breguet coin-edge case design with a sapphire cabochon crown, 'officer'-style lugs, and a snapback case. As with virtually all Breguet dress watches, the dial within is generally the highlight, and this piece is no exception. Gold in color, it features no fewer than ten different styles of guilloché finishing, with black printed indices throughout, and thats more or less it. A simply time-only display executed on a high level. The condition of this piece is simply exceptional. Unpolished and possibly even unworn, it shows only faint handling wear with an attractive 'rosy' oxidation developing throughout, and perfect hallmarks. It even comes fitted to its original black croc strap with its original 18k buckle.
Last but not least, powering this piece is the Peseux Cal. 320 manual-winding movement. This of course is a close relative to what is widely regarded as one of the most accurate manual-winding movements to be used in a wrist watch and was never even used in publicly sold pieces — the Peseux Cal. 260.
So here is a piece that delivers condition, rarity, and timelessness — all from one of the most prestigious brands on earth. How can you go wrong?
