Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680/8 Lava Tropical

Sale price$62,950.00

Straight Facts

The Rolex submariner has to be the most iconic watch ever produced. Its influence spans from its role in the first film production of James Bond (starring Sean Connery with his “Big Crown” Submariner) to its input on practically every dive watch produced since its inception. The Ref. 1680 is special however - it is the first Submariner to ever feature a date complication and also the first Submariner to be produced out of gold. This 1979 example cased in 18k yellow gold is one of the rarest and most attractive I have seen. The case is sharp with factory finishing and beveling and the dial has aged into one of the most spectacular “Lava” colors I have seen. Truly a unique and special piece, I coudln’t be happier to offer it in the Watch Shop!

*Some marks or spots on the dial are reflections or dust on the crystal and are due to high intensity strobe lighting used while photographing. They are not actually on the watch or visible in natural lighting.

From Rolex & Patek Philippe, to Cartier & Audemars Piguet. As collectors first, we love the small details that separate the Submariner from Daytona and Calatrava from Royal Oak. This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
