Rolex Datejust Ref. 6305-1 - White 'Honeycomb' Dial with 'Roulette' Date

Sale price$36,950.00 USD

Hard to believe - but the Datejust has been around since 1945. It is far older than its bigger and attention hogging Submariner brethren. That being said, you never really come across the early Rolex Datejust as Rolex simply was not making as many watches in the 40s and 50s and they do today. That makes it a special day when we are able to find not only an early Datejust from the 1950s - nevermind one with this dial. The present example featuring an absolutely stunning white Honeycomb dial - which is as beautiful in person as it is rare to find!

Rolex is a brand all about evolution over revolution. Despite beings from the 1950s - all the hallmarks of classic Rolex are present (the fluted bezel, the big Rolex crown) - it’s done here on these early references in a far more refined way. The 6 and 9 indices are ‘arrowhead-markers’, and the hands are beautifully elegant ‘dauphine” style - even the fluting on the bezel (we call this a ‘coin-edge’ bezel) just seems a little more subdued. All of that aside, the star of the show is this dial. A rare white honeycomb dial with a stepped outer seconds track! Look beyond the honey and see how sweet that red ‘Datejust’ printing and red roulette date disc are. An even closer look reveals its elegant patina showing slight hints of its age, and the fact that and all of its radium markers are still present!

We cannot overstate how special these are, and we are honored to be able to offer this piece from a private collection out to the world!

From Rolex & Patek Philippe, to Cartier & Audemars Piguet. As collectors first, we love the small details that separate the Submariner from Daytona and Calatrava from Royal Oak. This is why you'll find our curated assortment spans decades of generations of models and brands. We believe that watches don't just tell time, they tell history - and life is too short to wear a boring watch.
