The dial inside is highly-legible, with two large subsidiary registers with 'concentric' finishing, 'Arabic' Tritium indices, and high-contrast white printing throughout. Simple, easy to read. \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eOn the lower half of the dial, an additional signature of the Rome-based distributor of these pieces, \"A. Cairelli\" is prominently featured. Powering this piece is Zenith's own Cal. 146DP manual-winding movement, tucked away behind a protective dust shield and snapback caseback. It utilized 'pump' pushers, an oversized crown, a screw-down caseback, and a solid-piece black aluminum rotating timing bezel. The case remains unpolished, with thick, symmetrical, and sharp lugs at each corner and shows what could be considered only light wear given the action that this piece was intended for. The bezel in particular is wonderfully preserved. Inside, the black dial exhibits light wear on the surface and retains evenly patinated Tritium indices. The incredibly legible white-painted 'sword' handset has aged more creamy than the dial, which is typical for this model, and presents beautifully. LIP, wanting to get their slice, borrowed a patent from their friends at Blancpain and produced the diver that we have here.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe 34mm steel case features lovely chamfers on the lugs and borrows its bezel design and caseback system from Blancpain. The dial within is glossy black in color and proudly displays the Blancpain connection on the lower half. Additionally, it has applied 'dart' indices with quadrant 'Arabic' indices, Tritium-filled blocks as well as plots, and a matching Tritium 'alpha' handset. Not dissimilar to other premiere chronograph manufactures in this era, they also produced 'elevated' pieces in precious metals like the MultiChron that we have here.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDating to circa the 1940s, this piece features a 35mm case crafted out of 14k yellow gold with 'square' pushers, a matching crown, and a snapback caseback. In very strong condition overall, the case shows signs light previous polishing while respecting the factory proportions, and normal signs of wear otherwise. Inside, the silver dial is beautifully-preserved, with a largely clean 'brushed' surface devoid of any major wear or damage — no doubt due to its lack of lume to degrade over its eighty-years of life. The printed scales and text are clear as ever, along with some of the best font to ever grace a dial. Just look at that seven!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou don't just land on Gallet. This, along with brands like Movado, Universal Genève, etc. are found years into collection and exploration of this hobby. And while these are not incredibly elusive, strong examples are, as collectors tend to hang onto good ones. That is, of course, François Borgel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe case itself is a 30mm in diameter and features\u003cspan\u003e very attractive 'stepped' finishing on the top case, with dynamic, faceted lugs, a screw-down caseback, and a 'domed' crown\u003c\/span\u003e. Its simple 'calatrava'-style design is incredibly versatile and as attractive as ever, but there is no getting around the dial within. Originally silver in color has aged to a mesmerizing and intense orange 'tangerine' color. There is a little bit of wabi-sabi mixed in there, with some scattered spotting and a gradient effect on the left side, but it works and presents beautifully. Adding to the appeal are the patinated 'Arabic' indices ,matching blued-steel 'syringe' handset, and that red-tipped seconds hand. Last but not least, powering this piece is Movado's own Calibre 260 manual-winding movement.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn our opinion, and we know there are a handful of other dealers and enthusiasts out there that share this viewpoint, there are not many brands that get design this right. Otherwise, that iconic integrated bracelet, the hexagonal crown, octagonal bezel, and even a automatic-winding movement are all very familiar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003eThis example is a tone-on-tone, solid yellow gold variant with a champagne dial inside.
